Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2019 Christies in New York held the auction European Art Part II, which included the work Forfeits by Eyre Crowe. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,205.74) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eyre Crowe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Foundry, which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 29,875.00 (€ 43,616.56).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion European Art Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Forfeits von Eyre Crowe zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.205,74) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Eyre Crowe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Foundry beobachtet, die im Februar 2003 für GBP 29.875,00 (€ 43.616,56) versteigert wurde.
