It achieved a price of GBP 763.75 (€ 1,096.54), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 53%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eugenio Benvenuti - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work By the edge of the lagoon, Venice; A harbour on a Venetian island, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 2,350.00 (€ 3,377.08).
