Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work On the Grand Canal, Venice by Eugenio Benvenuti for GBP 660.00 (€ 973.64). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Art Including Russian Pictures at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eugenio Benvenuti - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work By the edge of the lagoon, Venice; A harbour on a Venetian island, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 2,350.00 (€ 3,377.08).
