Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Still life with flowers in a vase by Eugene Speicher was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 540.00 (€ 408.16). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eugene Speicher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Babette in August last year with an auction result of USD 14,025.00 (€ 13,934.43).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Still life with flowers in a vase von Eugene Speicher im Februar 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 540,00 (€ 408,16) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Eugene Speicher erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Babette im August letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 14.025,00 (€ 13.934,43).
