Despite a disappointment, a good price for Étienne Aubry
In October 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work 'La Turque', presumed portrait of Mademoiselle Duthé (1748-1830), mistress of the Comte d'Artois, full-length, reclining on an 'ottomane' by Étienne Aubry for USD 187,500.00 (€ 165,460.64). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, 'La Turque', presumed portrait of Mademoiselle Duthé (1748-1830), mistress of the Comte d'Artois, full-length, reclining on an 'ottomane' is the most expensive artwork by Étienne Aubry that we have observed at auction so far.
