In October 2008 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work Below the Mountains, Pyrenees by Ethelbert White. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,186.60), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ethelbert White have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The level crossing (recto); A sketch of a male nude (verso) in August 2014 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 17,341.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Below the Mountains, Pyrenees von Ethelbert White zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.500,00 (€ 3.186,60) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ethelbert White auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The level crossing (recto); A sketch of a male nude (verso) im August 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 17.341,73).
