In January 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work Travellers In A Hilly Landscape by Esaias van de Velde. The »bidding war« ended at USD 27,500.00 (€ 25,477.12), 53% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Esaias van de Velde achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Elegant Company In A Garden in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,953,000.00 (€ 1,896,839.67).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2017 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Travellers In A Hilly Landscape von Esaias van de Velde zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 27.500,00 (€ 25.477,12) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Esaias van de Velde erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An Elegant Company In A Garden im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.953.000,00 (€ 1.896.839,67).
