Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Soldiers ambushing a wagon by Esaias van de Velde was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,080.00 (€ 8,306.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Esaias van de Velde achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Elegant Company In A Garden in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,953,000.00 (€ 1,896,839.67).
