Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Steamer Leaving Port In Heavy Weather, Figures Watching From The Pier by Erwin Carl Wilhelm Günter was sold in the Maritime Pictures auction at Christies in London in May 2006. The price achieved of GBP 840.00 (€ 1,226.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 900.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Erwin Carl Wilhelm Günter - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sailing into the harbour, which sold at auction in January 2002 for EUR 4,700.00.
