Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work El Otro Autoretrato (Espejo) by Enrique Martinez Celaya was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 9,375.00 (€ 6,521.29). Admittedly, works by Enrique Martinez Celaya have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Beautiful Life in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 60,000.00 (€ 44,599.72).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit El Otro Autoretrato (Espejo) von Enrique Martinez Celaya im Mai 2011 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 9.375,00 (€ 6.521,29) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Enrique Martinez Celaya auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Beautiful Life im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 60.000,00 (€ 44.599,72).
