Auction result well in line with expectations
The work French Saracens Warrior by Émile-Louis Picault was sold in the 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in October 2008. The price achieved of USD 41,250.00 (€ 32,526.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Émile-Louis Picault have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Priest And The Scribe in April 2020 with an auction result of GBP 125,000.00 (€ 143,792.79).
