Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work French the Priest And Priestess: A Pair Of Sculptures by Émile-Louis Picault was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 5,778.28). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Émile-Louis Picault achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Priest And The Scribe in April 2020 with an auction result of GBP 125,000.00 (€ 143,792.79).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit French the Priest And Priestess: A Pair Of Sculptures von Émile-Louis Picault im November 2017 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.875,00 (€ 5.778,28) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Émile-Louis Picault erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Priest And The Scribe im April 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 125.000,00 (€ 143.792,79).
