Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2003 Christies in London held the auction THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART, which included the work Study of convolvulus and marigolds by Eloise Harriet Stannard. The price achieved of GBP 7,767.50 (€ 11,340.30) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,000.00 – 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eloise Harriet Stannard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Apples, a pineapple and black grapes in a basket, beside an upturned basket with a pear, plums, redcurrants, a peach, white grapes and a butterfly on a wooden ledge, which sold at auction in November 2002 for GBP 20,315.00 (€ 31,812.24).
