Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Eloise Harriet Stannard could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2002 for an unexpectedly low price. In the VICTORIAN PICTURES auction, the work Roses and strawberries on a cabbage leaf, with overhanging honeysuckle, in a grassy meadow; and A Peach and black grapes in a wicker basket, and an apple, redcurrants, an ear of corn and a plum on a grass verge changed hands for GBP 11,950.00 (€ 18,713.08) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 12,00 Other works by Eloise Harriet Stannard have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November 2002 by the work Apples, a pineapple and black grapes in a basket, beside an upturned basket with a pear, plums, redcurrants, a peach, white grapes and a butterfly on a wooden ledge at GBP 20,315.00 (€ 31,812.24).
