In February last year Christies in New York held the auction Outsider Art, which included the work Statue of Liberty by Elijah Pierce. The »bidding war« ended at USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,136.85), 56% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elijah Pierce - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Judas Kissing Jesus, which sold at auction in January this year for USD 30,240.00 (€ 27,850.43).

Im Februar letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Outsider Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Statue of Liberty von Elijah Pierce zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.136,85) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Elijah Pierce mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Judas Kissing Jesus beobachtet, die im Januar diesen Jahres für USD 30.240,00 (€ 27.850,43) versteigert wurde.
