In March this year Christies in London held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work To a Nightingale by Eileen Agar. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 18,900.00 (€ 21,502.40), 58% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Eileen Agar have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Taking Aim in April this year with an auction result of HKD 176,400.00 (€ 180,138.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit To a Nightingale von Eileen Agar zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 18.900,00 (€ 21.502,40) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eileen Agar auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Taking Aim im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 176.400,00 (€ 180.138,91).
