Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Pepper No. 30 by Edward Weston was auctioned at Bonhams in Skinner Boston in January 2024, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,584.00 (€ 3,132.32). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Weston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nude in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,609,000.00 (€ 1,033,530.32).
