In April 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work 'Dunes - Oceano' by Edward Weston. The »bidding war« ended at USD 300,000.00 (€ 275,355.67), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Weston - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nude, which sold at auction in April 2008 for USD 1,609,000.00 (€ 1,033,530.32).
