In July 2004 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work Gibralter, 1945; and Ships at sea by Edward Wesson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 896.25 (€ 1,354.43), 49% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Wesson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Thames barges racing on the estuary, which sold at auction in December 2005 for GBP 3,240.00 (€ 4,702.68).

Im Juli 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gibralter, 1945; and Ships at sea von Edward Wesson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 896,25 (€ 1.354,43) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Wesson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Thames barges racing on the estuary beobachtet, die im Dezember 2005 für GBP 3.240,00 (€ 4.702,68) versteigert wurde.
