Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Across the Field by Edward Wesson was sold in the Twentieth Century British Art auction at Christies in London in March 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 211.50 (€ 345.75) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Wesson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thames barges racing on the estuary in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 3,240.00 (€ 4,702.68).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Across the Field von Edward Wesson wurde im März 2002 in der Auktion Twentieth Century British Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 211,50 (€ 345,75) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Wesson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Thames barges racing on the estuary im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.240,00 (€ 4.702,68).
