Despite a disappointment, a good price for Edward Mason Eggleston
In November 2011 a collector was able to acquire the work Atlantic City, Pennsylvania Railroad by Edward Mason Eggleston for GBP 3,125.00 (€ 3,648.12). This price was achieved in the auction Travel and Vintage Posters at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, Atlantic City, Pennsylvania Railroad is the most expensive artwork by Edward Mason Eggleston that we have observed at auction so far.
