In December 2000 Christies in London held the auction ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATIONS AND PRINTED BOOKS, which included the work A Praying Mantis on an old English rose by Edward Julius Detmold. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,997.50 (€ 3,182.00), 33% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Julius Detmold - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad the Sailor, which sold at auction in July 2018 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,409.15).

Im Dezember 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATIONS AND PRINTED BOOKS durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Praying Mantis on an old English rose von Edward Julius Detmold zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.997,50 (€ 3.182,00) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Julius Detmold mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad the Sailor beobachtet, die im Juli 2018 für GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.409,15) versteigert wurde.
