The work Wye Valley No. 2 by Edward Burra was sold in the Modern British & Irish Art Day Sale auction at Christies in London in October last year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 138,600.00 (€ 161,467.47), 39% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Burra achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Zoot Suits in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 2,057,250.00 (€ 2,275,964.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Wye Valley No. 2 von Edward Burra wurde im Oktober letzten Jahres in der Auktion Modern British & Irish Art Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 138.600,00 (€ 161.467,47) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Burra erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Zoot Suits im Juni 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.057.250,00 (€ 2.275.964,73).
