Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2016 Christies in New York held the auction Living with Art, which included the work Where meadow meets the sea by Edward Gay. The price achieved of USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,420.91) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Gay - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Over The Hills And Far Away, which sold at auction in March 2005 for USD 9,600.00 (€ 7,402.27).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2016 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Living with Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Where meadow meets the sea von Edward Gay zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 3.750,00 (€ 3.420,91) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Gay mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Over The Hills And Far Away beobachtet, die im März 2005 für USD 9.600,00 (€ 7.402,27) versteigert wurde.
