Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sailboats at sunset by Edward Gay was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,640.00 (€ 1,973.98) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Gay - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Over The Hills And Far Away, which sold at auction in March 2005 for USD 9,600.00 (€ 7,402.27).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.640,00 (€ 1.973,98) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
