Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2012 a collector was able to acquire the work The Spinners by Edouard Frère for USD 1,750.00 (€ 1,340.69). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & 19th Century European Art, Including Property from The Forbes Collection: The Panorama of Champigny at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edouard Frère achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Feeding the children in May 2002 with an auction result of GBP 15,275.00 (€ 23,920.86).
