Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings including Spanish Painting, The Orientalist Sale, and German, Austrian, Scandinavian and Symbolist Works, which included the work French Les Choristes by Edgar Maxence. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,500.00 (€ 4,924.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edgar Maxence achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L'Âme de la Source in June 2018 with an auction result of EUR 125,000.00.
