Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait De Femme by Edgar Maxence was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in June 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 2,280.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edgar Maxence achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L'Âme de la Source in June 2018 with an auction result of EUR 125,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait De Femme von Edgar Maxence im Juni 2007 bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 2.280,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edgar Maxence erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit L'Âme de la Source im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 125.000,00.
