This artwork by Eden Upton Eddis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in January 2007. In the Property From Encombe, Dorset & La Chasse, Jersey auction, the work Portrait of Lady Elizabeth Scott (d.1862), seated half-length, in a pink dress, holding a tapestry sold for GBP 8,160.00 (€ 12,311.57) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Eden Upton Eddis; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Group portrait of John Scott, later 3rd Earl of Eldon (1845-1926), and his sisters Lady Selina Scott (d.1891) and Lady Gertrude Scott (d.1919) sold at auction in January 2007 with the realized price of GBP 14,400.00 (€ 21,726.30).
