Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2003 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES, which included the work Limping into port by Ebenezer Colls. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 329.00 (€ 472.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ebenezer Colls achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A three-decker reducing sail in Spithead in preparation for her arrival into Portsmouth Harbour in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 3,585.00 (€ 5,378.82).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Limping into port von Ebenezer Colls zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 329,00 (€ 472,28) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ebenezer Colls erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A three-decker reducing sail in Spithead in preparation for her arrival into Portsmouth Harbour im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.585,00 (€ 5.378,82).
