In April 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work The Bathers by Dorothy Tennant for USD 14,400.00 (€ 11,406.84). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, The Bathers is the most expensive artwork by Dorothy Tennant that we have observed at auction so far.
