Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction (Women) Artists, which included the work The Witch by Dorothea Tanning. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 320,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 327,600.00 (€ 381,170.15). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Dorothea Tanning - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Le mal oublié, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 1,440,000.00 (€ 1,341,906.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion (Women) Artists durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Witch von Dorothea Tanning zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 320.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 327.600,00 (€ 381.170,15) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Dorothea Tanning mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Le mal oublié beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 1.440.000,00 (€ 1.341.906,63) versteigert wurde.
