Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Open Sesame by Dorothea Tanning was sold in the (Women) Artists auction at Sothebys in London in March last year. The price achieved of GBP 12,600.00 (€ 14,938.72) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dorothea Tanning achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le mal oublié in May last year with an auction result of USD 1,440,000.00 (€ 1,341,906.63).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Open Sesame von Dorothea Tanning wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion (Women) Artists bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 12.600,00 (€ 14.938,72) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dorothea Tanning erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le mal oublié im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.440.000,00 (€ 1.341.906,63).
