Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Donato Creti could be acquired at Sothebys in London in December 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection auction, the work A Mother and Child changed hands for GBP 756.00 (€ 844.52) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Donato Creti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Sibyl in February 2018 with an auction result of USD 1,095,000.00 (€ 896,732.45).
