Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Studies of a Baptism of Christ and of Christ carrying the Cross (recto); Saint John the Baptist and a study of a figure embracing figures (verso) by Donato Creti was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2020. It changed hands for a price of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,072.00) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Donato Creti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Sibyl in February 2018 with an auction result of USD 1,095,000.00 (€ 896,732.45).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.072,00) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Donato Creti erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Sibyl im Februar 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.095.000,00 (€ 896.732,45).
