Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The East Indiamen Damsel and Lawrence at anchor off Walmer Castle with shipping beyond by Dominic Serres was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,930.18). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dominic Serres achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Capture Of Havana, Cuba: The Taking Of The Town By British Forces Under The Command Of The Earl Of Albemarle, 14 August 1762 in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 581,000.00 (€ 690,353.69).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Capture Of Havana, Cuba: The Taking Of The Town By British Forces Under The Command Of The Earl Of Albemarle, 14 August 1762 im Juli 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 581.000,00 (€ 690.353,69).
