Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Naval shipping off Sheerness, with an Admiralty yacht of the white squadron, a frigate and a third-rate entering the Medway by Dominic Serres was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2013. It changed hands for a price of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 32,872.00) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dominic Serres achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Capture Of Havana, Cuba: The Taking Of The Town By British Forces Under The Command Of The Earl Of Albemarle, 14 August 1762 in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 581,000.00 (€ 690,353.69).
