Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2007 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Pictures Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work A burning city by a river with figures fleeing in the foreground by Dirck Verhaert. It changed hands for a price of EUR 4,750.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Other works by Dirck Verhaert have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in September 2008 the work A rocky river landscape with figures among ancient ruins; and A rocky coastal landscape with figures in boats and figures on a track near ancient ruins was auctioned for EUR 8,125.00.

Im September 2007 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Pictures Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A burning city by a river with figures fleeing in the foreground von Dirck Verhaert zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von EUR 4.750,00 den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00.
