This work of art by Dirck Verhaert could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work An Extensive River Landscape With Figures Resting Near A Ruined Fortification changed hands for GBP 1,625.00 (€ 2,275.42) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Dirck Verhaert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A rocky river landscape with figures among ancient ruins; and A rocky coastal landscape with figures in boats and figures on a track near ancient ruins, which sold at auction in September 2008 for EUR 8,125.00.
