In October 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Lady bartender at home with a souvenir dog, New Orleans, La., 1964 by Diane Arbus. The »bidding war« ended at USD 29,800.00 (€ 20,597.18), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Diane Arbus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A box of ten photographs in May this year with an auction result of USD 1,008,000.00 (€ 946,123.52).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2007 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lady bartender at home with a souvenir dog, New Orleans, La., 1964 von Diane Arbus zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 29.800,00 (€ 20.597,18) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Diane Arbus erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A box of ten photographs im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.008.000,00 (€ 946.123,52).
