Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Salome with the head of Saint John the Baptist by Defendente Ferrari was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2005. The price achieved of USD 26,400.00 (€ 21,894.18) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Defendente Ferrari achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pietà in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 540,000.00 (€ 415,448.53).

Die Arbeit Salome with the head of Saint John the Baptist von Defendente Ferrari kam im September 2005 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 26.400,00 (€ 21.894,18) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Defendente Ferrari erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pietà im Januar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 540.000,00 (€ 415.448,53).
