Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Chaos At Sea) by Dean Cornwell was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,694.86). Admittedly, works by Dean Cornwell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Study for 'The History of Transportation' Mural in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 137,500.00 (€ 115,565.64).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Chaos At Sea) von Dean Cornwell im Juni 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 18.750,00 (€ 16.694,86) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Dean Cornwell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Study for 'The History of Transportation' Mural im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 137.500,00 (€ 115.565,64).
