Despite a disappointment, a good price for David Roberts
When the work Jerusalem, from the South by David Roberts was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 962,500.00 (€ 1,155,314.09). Despite this disappointing result, Jerusalem, from the South is the most expensive artwork by David Roberts that we have observed at auction so far.
