This artwork by David Hockney achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2021. In the Post War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Still Life with Flowers and Lobster at Odin's Restaurant sold for GBP 934,500.00 (€ 1,095,895.02) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nichols Canyon in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).
