A top price for David Gibson
When the work Portrait Of Count Mikhail Semyonovich Vorontsov (1782-1856) by David Gibson was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,800.00 but the actual price achieved was more than eight times as high at GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,651.65). This high result makes Portrait Of Count Mikhail Semyonovich Vorontsov (1782-1856) the most expensive artwork by David Gibson that we have observed at auctions so far.
