In November 2005 Christies in London held the auction Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Selected Silver, and, which included the work A gentleman in brown coat and yellow waistcoat by David Gibson. The result of GBP 300.00 (€ 440.74) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Gibson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Count Mikhail Semyonovich Vorontsov (1782-1856) in May 2020 with an auction result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,651.65).

Im November 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Selected Silver, and durch, in der auch die Arbeit A gentleman in brown coat and yellow waistcoat von David Gibson zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 300,00 (€ 440,74) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Gibson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Count Mikhail Semyonovich Vorontsov (1782-1856) im Mai 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 16.651,65).
