Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Turkish Cavalry Maneuvers by David Douglas Duncan was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,000.00 (€ 5,151.10). Other works by David Douglas Duncan have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in April 2010 by the work Picasso, clad in a bright green terry-cloth robe, confronts the camera on front steps of Chateau de Vauvenargues at USD 10,625.00 (€ 7,987.52).
