Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Thomas Dicksan, Aged 8, On His Favourite Pony Wendlestone, In A Landscape by David Dalby was sold in the British Pictures 1500-1850 auction at Christies in London in November 2006. The price achieved of GBP 4,800.00 (€ 7,128.15) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Dalby - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Jerry, winner of the 1824 St. Leger, with Ben Smith up, by a post at Doncaster, which sold at auction in November 2002 for GBP 9,560.00 (€ 14,970.47).
