Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Spot the Ugly Duckling by David Chan was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 35,000.00 – 55,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 25,200.00 (€ 2,731.56). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Chan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work You Are So Special, Just Like Everyone Else in November 2017 with an auction result of HKD 812,500.00 (€ 87,477.94).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Spot the Ugly Duckling von David Chan im Juli 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 35.000,00 – 55.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 25.200,00 (€ 2.731,56) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Chan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit You Are So Special, Just Like Everyone Else im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 812.500,00 (€ 87.477,94).
