Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Falling Man Petroglyph, Gold Butte National Monument, Nevada by David Benjamin Sherry was auctioned at Phillips in an online auction in February last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 9,450.00 (€ 8,419.46). Other works by David Benjamin Sherry have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2017 by the work Ultimate Earth at USD 11,875.00 (€ 11,100.21).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Falling Man Petroglyph, Gold Butte National Monument, Nevada von David Benjamin Sherry im Februar letzten Jahres bei Phillips in einer Online-Auktion versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 9.450,00 (€ 8.419,46) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von David Benjamin Sherry wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im März 2017 die Arbeit Ultimate Earth mit USD 11.875,00 (€ 11.100,21).
